This article examines the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on civil proceedings and the legal and practical foundations for their deployment in Uzbekistan. It argues that persistent challenges—protracted proceedings, complex bureaucratic procedures, increasing judicial workload, and high litigation costs—highlight the potential of AI to automate document handling, rapidly analyze case files, predict outcomes, optimize the allocation of judicial resources, and expand access to justice. At the same time, the article analyzes key legal and ethical risks associated with AI integration, including transparency, human oversight, privacy and cybersecurity, liability, and accountability, and proposes institutional and regulatory safeguards to mitigate them. The paper offers practical recommendations to supplement civil procedural legislation with rules and limitations on AI use, introduce algorithmic audits and transparency registries, and establish specialized training and capacity-building programs for judges and court staff.
