Onomastic materials constitute a significant part of the vocabulary of any developed language. Therefore, a specialized study of onomastic materials is essential, alongside subjects such as history, geography, and astronomy. General information about onomastic units of language, the onomastic sphere, and the onomastic area, along with the meanings of the terms that represent them, requires comprehensive study. This includes examining the body of knowledge about them from scientific-theoretical, practical, and methodological perspectives in both world and Uzbek linguistics, with a focus on their integration as a unified system. This is one of the pressing issues in the field. The article addresses the theoretical foundations of onomastics, a branch of linguistics, and explores problematic viewpoints related to this subject.
