This article presents the field of onomastics, which is one of the branches of modern linguistics. It covers its theoretical foundations, units, the concept of the onomastic sphere, and its study. This field examines the history of names, their functions, and development, as well as their emergence in geographical, historical, sociological, philosophical, ethnographic, and psychological contexts. The composition of godonyms (street names), their grammatical structure, and diverse forms illustrate that the street names in the Andijan region are ancient and unique.
