This article analyzes the processes of systematization and codification of legislation, as well as their significance in ensuring legal regulation and enhancing normative efficiency. It is shown that the effectiveness of legislation is associated with its systematic nature, internal consistency without contradictions, and the prevention of excessive repetition in normative legal acts. In this process, codification occupies a special place: it ensures the logical and coherent connection of legal norms, integrates branches of law systematically, and streamlines the normative base. The article elaborates on the three types of codification — general, sectoral, and institutional. The historical development of general codification is examined through Roman law and experiences of European countries, while the application of sectoral codification in modern countries, particularly in Uzbekistan's legal system, is analyzed. Furthermore, the role of institutional codification in uniting legal norms of smaller institutions and specific sectors under a single document is emphasized. The research findings indicate that codification is an important tool for effectively managing legislation, regulating legal relations, and modernizing the normative base. The article also includes recommendations aimed at creating a scientific foundation for the development of our country’s legal system through the study of modern codification trends and foreign experiences.
