The article describes the socio-political situation that developed in Turkestan at the beginning of the 20th century, the national liberation struggles for state independence, its stages, the role played by local political parties in these struggles, the approaches of political parties to the issue of state independence, the goals, programs and activities of the "Sho'roi Islam", "Sho'roi Ulama", "Ittihad va taraqqiy" parties, the political and social reforms they implemented, the establishment and collapse of the Turkestan autonomy, the initiatives of the Jadids to awaken national consciousness and support national liberation movements through education and the press.
