Annotatsiya

This article presents a theoretically grounded methodology for developing awareness of national identity through historical representations among students with intellectual disabilities in Grades 5–7. Taking into account the characteristics of concrete thinking, generalization, and memory, as well as relatively preserved emotional responsiveness, the study proposes a four-stage model: feeling → representation → concept → value. The article outlines the underlying pedagogical principles, instructional methods and resources, grade-specific learning content, an illustrative lesson plan, and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
