The article substantiates a methodology for developing and analyzing national self-awareness in students with intellectual disabilities through historical representations. It examines the psychological and pedagogical essence of national self-awareness, the cognitive characteristics of these students, and the regularities of forming historical representations. A four-stage methodology combining concrete-visual, activity-based and emotional-value approaches is proposed, together with diagnostic criteria, levels and analytical tools.
