Methodology for Developing Intercultural Communicative Competence in Pre-Service German Language Teachers in a Digital Learning Environment

Annotatsiya

This article examines methodological approaches to developing intercultural communicative competence in pre-service German language teachers within a digital learning environment. The advancement of digital technologies has extended the traditional boundaries of foreign language instruction, creating opportunities for direct online interaction with individuals from different countries and cultural backgrounds. In particular, virtual exchange, telecollaboration, videoconferencing, digitally mediated communicative tasks, authentic multimedia materials, electronic portfolios, and reflective activities have become important methodological tools for fostering intercultural communicative competence in prospective German language teachers. The article explores the pedagogical potential of digital learning environments, the stages involved in organizing virtual intercultural communication, the integration of authentic German-language multimedia materials, the design of digital communicative tasks, and the facilitation of reflective learning through electronic portfolios. Furthermore, a digitally supported methodological model for developing intercultural communicative competence in pre-service German language teachers is proposed, and its key components are outlined. The analysis suggests that the purposeful, pedagogically grounded, and reflective integration of digital technologies can contribute not only to the development of linguistic competence but also to intercultural awareness and the enhancement of communication, mediation, and collaboration skills.
