This article examines the stability of criminal judgments as a legal principle that links the finality of judicial decisions with the requirements of legality, validity, and fairness. Particular attention is paid to the distinction between stability and finality, the principles of res judicata and ne bis in idem, and the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The study provides a functional comparative analysis of procedural time limits in Germany, a narrowly defined statutory exception and an independent review body in England and Wales, the phased establishment of a review commission in Canada, and the composition of judicial panels in Latvia. Based on this analysis, the article proposes amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the introduction of Articles 16¹, 455¹, 95², and 522¹, as well as supplementary provisions to Articles 95, 465, and 467 concerning the use of digital tools in sentencing.
