Annotatsiya

This article examines approaches to improving the criminal law and criminological frameworks for combating violations of customs legislation through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Drawing on the Criminal Code, Customs Code, and Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, national regulations governing AI, and recommendations issued by the World Customs Organization, the study analyzes legal and institutional mechanisms for detecting and preventing customs offenses and establishing criminal liability. Particular attention is paid to the potential applications of machine learning, big data analytics, computer vision, AI-based risk assessment, and automated monitoring in customs control. The article also addresses the evidentiary value of AI-generated and AI-assisted information, the risks of algorithmic errors, personal data protection, and the need for meaningful human oversight. Based on a comparative analysis of international scholarly research and the current legislation of Uzbekistan, the study proposes legal and practical measures to strengthen the prevention of customs-related crimes, improve risk identification and digital evidence management, and enhance law enforcement practices.
