The article is devoted to the specific features of legal relations arising from the use of artificial intelligence systems in commercial turnover, with particular attention to their cross-border dimension. Whereas the classical civil-law model of a legal relationship presupposes a bilateral, static and internally transparent link between two determinate persons, relations mediated by artificial intelligence display a fundamentally different architecture. On the basis of an analysis of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, Directive (EU) 2024/2853 on liability for defective products, the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, the Rome I and Rome II Regulations and the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the author identifies and substantiates eight specific features of such relations: polysubjectivity and the distribution of the legal position across a value chain; structural informational asymmetry; the continuing rather than instantaneous character of the relationship; the risk-based differentiation of the legal regime; the interpenetration of public-law and private-law regulation; the displacement of fault by conformity with technical standards; the accountability gap produced by autonomous operation; and the simultaneous subjection of a single relationship to several legal orders. Each feature is examined in terms of its practical consequences for contract drafting, liability allocation and the determination of the applicable law, and the article concludes with proposals for the development of Uzbek civil legislation.
