Polarization plane rotation dispersion in Bi12GeO20 and Bi12SiO20 crystals

Annotatsiya

The spectral dependence of optical activity in bismuth silicate (Bi12SiO20) and bismuth germanate (Bi12GeO20) crystals was experimentally studied in the wavelength range of 488–1150nm. It was shown that the specific rotation of the polarization plane of light has maximal values at short wavelengths and decreases with increasing wavelength in the infrared range. It wasfound that in the spectral transparency range from 632.8 to 1150 nm, the dispersion of polarization rotation in these crystals is well described by the Drude equations. The gyration constant at a wavelength of 632.8 nm was also determined for these crystals.
