Anisotropy of damping of acoustic waves and tensor Grüneisen in lithium fluoride crystals

Annotatsiya

The anisotropy of the attenuation of acoustic waves by the Akhiezer mechanism in cubic crystals of lithium fluoride is studied. The components of the Grüneisen tensor are determined, with the help of which the dependence of the effective Grüneisen constant on the direction of propagation and polarization of acoustic waves in the (001) plane is calculated. It is shown that this dependence explains well the strong anisotropy of the damping of acoustic waves in LiF crystals.
