This article presents a theoretical, legal, and criminological analysis of the essence and distinctive features of maintaining public order in large cities. The study reviews scholarly approaches to the concepts of “city” and “large city” and examines the impact of urbanization, population density, urban infrastructure, transport flows, tourism, mass events, and the social environment on the maintenance of public order. Based on the findings, the distinctive features of maintaining public order in large cities are systematized, and the need for a differentiated approach to organizing this activity is substantiated.
