This article presents the results of a scientific and pedagogical study aimed at improving the special motor preparedness of table tennis players. The study includes an analysis of the competitive performance of athletes from leading international national teams, which substantiates the importance of high-speed shuttle-like movements characteristic of modern table tennis. In order to objectively assess motor activity during match play and to determine athletes’ cardiorespiratory capacities, a specialized test known as the “Zigzag running” (54 m) was developed and implemented. The findings indicate that integrating this test and the corresponding set of experimental exercises into the training process contributes to enhanced movement speed, improved stability and accuracy of strokes, and an overall increase in both general and sport-specific physical fitness of table tennis players.
