PHOTOCATALYTIC EFFECT OF ZINC OXIDE NANORODES SYNTHESIZED BY THE HYDROTHERMAL METHOD

Annotatsiya

The paper reports the formation of ZnO nanorods on the surface of a stainless steel mesh. The nanorods in cross section have a regular hexagonal shape. The length of nanorods is 2−15 microns, while a diameter varies between 0.07−1 microns. In the presence of nanorods and under UV light illumination, the aqueous solution of the organic dye rhodamine 6G manifests a bleaching effect due to the degradation of the dye. The observed phenomenon is explained by the photocatalytic effect of ZnO nanorods.
