The article examines the current state of research on the stylistic nature of Fyodor Sologub’s novel The Little Demon (Melkii bes) in contemporary literary studies. The main approaches to the scholarly interpretation of the novel are systematized. The study identifies the principal interpretations of the relationship among realist, Symbolist, and grotesque elements within the novel’s artistic structure. It is established that existing research focuses primarily on individual components of the work’s poetics. The main trends in contemporary literary scholarship are identified, and promising directions for further research are outlined, particularly those related to a comprehensive study of the novel’s stylistic syncretism as an integral artistic system.
