Annotatsiya

This study presents a comprehensive diachronic and cognitive-linguistic analysis of somatic phraseological units, with a particular focus on the "Hand" (qo'l) component, which is highly productive in German phraseology. As an anthropocentric means of human physical interaction and social signaling, the hand serves as a primary source domain for metaphorical and metonymic transfers. Drawing on a corpus of high-frequency German idioms, this work traces the etymological development of phrases containing the "Hand" component within the context of medieval legal practices, traditions, and gestures. Furthermore, a comparative analysis with the Uzbek language ("qo'l") highlights cultural and linguistic divergences. The research findings indicate that the semantic transformation of a body part term into an abstract conceptual symbol is based on stable cognitive mechanisms filtered through specific cultural patterns.
