The translation of psychological terminology presents a complex challenge for linguists working between English and Uzbek, largely due to conceptual differences, cultural divergences, and the varying levels of terminological development in both languages. This study investigates strategies and problems that arise in translating key psychological terms from Daniel Goleman’s seminal work Emotional Intelligence into Uzbek. Through a comparative linguistic analysis, the research identifies patterns of equivalence, semantic shifts, and adaptation encountered in the translation process. The study demonstrates that while many psychological terms can be translated through semantic and functional equivalence, others require adaptation to ensure conceptual clarity for Uzbek readers. The findings contribute to the broader field of translation studies and offer practical insights for translators working with psychological literature.
