Based on Russian proverbs and sayings, this article examines the concept of "soul" (dusha) as a key value dominant in the national mentality. Paremias are considered a representative linguistic form that reflects the deep meanings and axiological priorities of the people. The study analyzes semantic groups of paremias, identifying such mental traits as the priority of the spiritual over the material, openness and a confessional nature, the emotional-volitional center, and the "us vs. them" dialectic. The author concludes that in Russian paremiology, the concept of "soul" functions not merely as a lexical unit but as a value code that organizes the national worldview.
