This article examines kinetic means in Uzbek and English—gestures, facial expressions, gaze, posture, and body movement—from a linguocultural perspective. The analysis draws on theoretical works on nonverbal communication and literary examples from Abdulla Qodiriy, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Brontë. The study shows that the same bodily sign may carry different cultural meanings across communicative traditions. In Uzbek discourse etiquette, modesty, deference, and respect for elders are often encoded through lowered gaze, bowing, and restrained bodily movement, whereas in English literary discourse, controlled smiling, sustained gaze, and composed posture frequently index self-regulation, distance, and individual stance.
