In the context of globalization and increasing intercultural interaction, the development of intercultural competence has become a central objective of foreign language education. German language teaching, in particular, requires an integrative approach that combines linguistic proficiency with cultural awareness and communicative flexibility. The present study investigates effective methods for developing intercultural competence in German language classrooms at the tertiary level. The research applies a mixed-method approach, including classroom observation, experimental teaching intervention, and student feedback analysis. The findings demonstrate that communicative, task-based, and project-oriented methods significantly enhance students’ intercultural awareness, tolerance, and pragmatic competence. The study concludes that intercultural competence development requires the systematic integration of these approaches into lesson planning and teacher training programs.
