The article examines linguistic lacunae in publicistic texts and ways of overcoming them in the process of translation from a linguocultural and ethnopsycholinguistic perspective. Lacunae are interpreted as manifestations of national and cultural cognition that significantly influence intercultural communication and translation adequacy. Special attention is paid to verbal-semantic (linguistic) lacunae, which are classified into lexical, phraseological, grammatical, and stylistic types. Based on the analysis of publicistic texts and their translations, the study identifies absolute and relative lacunae and systematizes the main strategies for their compensation, including descriptive translation, generalization, specification, explicitation, and various translation transformations. The results contribute to the development of translation studies and intercultural communication theory.
