This article explores the reflection of the people, tradition, and national mentality in English and Uzbek epic traditions. The study emphasizes the role of folklore as a repository of historical memory and cultural identity. The Uzbek epic Alpomish illustrates collective values such as clan unity, honor, hospitality, and ritual practices, while also revealing realistic social conflicts related to wedding customs, zakat, and matchmaking. In contrast, English epics such as Beowulf and the Robin Hood Ballads highlight individual heroism, loyalty, justice, and the rule of law. The comparative analysis demonstrates that while heroism is a universal typological feature, its meaning is shaped by national mentality: collectivism and ritual in Uzbek tradition versus individual valor and social justice in English tradition. Epics thus serve not only as artistic monuments but also as historical-aesthetic documents of national consciousness.
