This article explores the development of learners’ soft skills through a gamification-based approach in English language teaching. Contemporary pedagogy highlights not only linguistic competence but also communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity as essential outcomes of language education. The study examines the didactic potential of gamification in increasing learning motivation, fostering active participation, and supporting learner autonomy in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. A quasi-experimental design was implemented with undergraduate students enrolled in a teacher-education program. Over an eight-week instructional period, structured game mechanics—points, levels, leaderboards, badges, and collaborative quests—were integrated into communicative language tasks. Mixed research methods were employed, including pre- and post-tests, observation protocols, analytic rubrics, and a motivation survey. The findings demonstrate that gamified learning environments enhance significantly communicative engagement, collaborative interaction, and problem-solving skills. Students showed measurable improvement in teamwork, task negotiation, and peer feedback strategies. Quantitative analysis revealed statistically significant gains in communicative competence and indicators of critical thinking and responsibility. Furthermore, learners reported increased intrinsic motivation, autonomy, and willingness to communicate in English. The study confirms that gamification functions not merely as a motivational tool but as a pedagogical framework that integrates linguistic development with transversal competence formation. The results suggest that systematic integration of gamification into EFL instruction can enhance both language proficiency and employability-related soft skills, aligning language education with competency-based higher education goals.
