The present article explores nomination theory within modern linguistics through a contrastive analysis of Uzbek and English. The study proceeds from the assumption that nomination is not a purely nominative or lexical act, but a cognitively and culturally motivated linguistic process. By examining lexical shifts, metaphorical nomination, and discourse-based naming strategies in both languages, the article demonstrates how universal cognitive mechanisms are realized through language-specific and culture-bound models.
