This article analyzes the problems of equivalence that arise in the process of translating scientific terms from English into Uzbek from linguistic and translation studies perspectives. The semantic accuracy of scientific terms, their semantic correspondence, and their conformity with the national language system are considered as the main criteria of translation quality. The study conducts a comparative analysis of scientific terms in English and Uzbek, examining fully equivalent, partially equivalent, and non-equivalent terms based on illustrative examples. The article also discusses the advantages and limitations of such translation methods as calquing, transliteration, descriptive translation, and adaptation. The research findings are of practical significance for improving the quality of scientific translation and for the development of Uzbek scientific terminology.
