Annotatsiya

The article examines the development of historical tragedy and historical chronicle in English Renaissance drama. Special attention is given to the works of Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare, through which historical drama reached a high artistic and philosophical level. The study explores how historical events and figures are represented not only as facts of the past but also as a space of dramatic conflicts, as well as psychological and moral trials of the individual. The methods of dramatic representation of history are analyzed, including psychological depth, the monologic revelation of characters, and the conflict between the individual and the historical process. It is noted that historical drama in English Renaissance literature becomes an instrument not only of artistic expression but also of moral, social, and political analysis, shaping national consciousness.
