This article examines the concept of politeness and its close connection with pragmatics in various contexts, particularly in the context of foreign language learners. The study is approached from a theoretical-pragmatic perspective, highlighting pragmatic errors made by learners in performing speech acts such as requests, refusals, apologies, and offers, based on authentic examples of spoken language. The article demonstrates that grammatically correct but pragmatically and culturally inappropriate utterances can reduce the effectiveness of communication. Furthermore, it shows that the incorrect use of politeness strategies may lead to pragmatic conflicts in intercultural communication.
