This article explores the psychological and linguistic aspects of written language development, focusing on second language learners in Uzbekistan. It draws upon both international and local research. Special attention is given to the cognitive processes, self-awareness, and emotional states that shape students' writing abilities. The study analyzes challenges in idea generation, thought organization, and working memory management. It also examines the impact of motivation, anxiety, and self-control on the writing process. By integrating Western models of written language (Flower & Hayes, Kellogg) with recent research findings from Uzbekistan, the article highlights both universal and local factors influencing academic performance. This analysis serves as a foundation for developing educational strategies aimed at reducing cognitive load, enhancing self-awareness, and building resilience to writing-related anxiety.
