This chapter examines the evolving geopolitical landscape of Central Asia through the changing discourse from the traditional “Great Game” to a more cooperative framework conceptualized as “Great Gains.” It argues that, unlike the nineteenth-century imperial rivalry, the contemporary regional order is characterized by the active agency of the Central Asian states, which pursue multi-vector foreign policies aimed at balancing relations among major and middle powers, including China, Russia, the United States, Turkey, India, Iran, and the European Union. The chapter analyzes the geopolitical significance of Central Asia in the emerging multipolar world order, emphasizing regional integration, strategic connectivity, and sovereign decision-making as essential pillars of regional stability. It further explores the growing influence of Turkic regionalism, the evolving engagement of Turkey, Iran, and India, and the role of regional and international organizations in fostering cooperation rather than confrontation. The chapter also highlights the importance of transport corridors, energy connectivity, regional identity, and economic interdependence in strengthening Central Asian regionalism. It concludes that the region is gradually transforming from an arena of geopolitical competition into a hub of cooperation, where pragmatic diplomacy, regional integration, and balanced external partnerships are increasingly shaping the future political, economic, and security architecture of Central Asia.
