This article analyzes the reforms implemented in the water management system of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the years of independence, the legal foundations for water resource management and protection, and the stages of their development. It highlights the essence of normative-legal acts aimed at the rational use and protection of water resources, improving the ameliorative condition of irrigated lands, and developing water management infrastructure. Furthermore, the role and significance of the Law "On Water and Water Use" and the new version of the Water Code in water resource management are scientifically assessed. The research findings serve as a basis for drawing scientific conclusions on the further improvement of the system for the effective use and protection of water resources.
