This article offers a brief overview of a source concerning the principles of establishing a state, which were first formulated in the Middle Ages. It provides substantial research materials on Abulhasan al-Mawardi's founding of the science of political jurisprudence (fiqh) in his time, his recognition by students and scholars, and the translations of his work into Arabic, French, English, Flemish, Persian, Urdu, Malay, Turkish, and Uzbek, as well as its manuscript copies.
