This comprehensive scientific article provides an in-depth analysis of the objective elements of the crime of violating labor protection rules stipulated in Article 257 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with particular attention to the theoretical, legal, and practical problems of establishing the socially dangerous act, criminal consequences, and the causal link between them. In the course of the research, the doctrine of criminal law, judicial and investigative practice, international labor standards, including ILO Conventions No. 155 and No. 187, and the norms of the new edition of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan were studied comparatively. The article identifies the reasons for the decline in attention to occupational safety in the private sector under market economy conditions, which has resulted in an increase in industrial accidents. It also conducts a comprehensive analysis of statistical data published by the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025 and the first quarter of 2026 and evaluates the legal consequences of accidents in the industrial and construction sectors. Furthermore, the article discusses the opinions of legal scholars regarding the significance of scene inspection as an investigative action in proving the objective elements of the crime, the complexities of qualifying blanket norms, and the assessment of causality in cases involving victim negligence. Scientifically grounded proposals for improving national legislation are also developed.
