This article examines the role of the religious factor in shaping and strengthening political legitimacy in Saudi Arabia. It explores the Sharia-based normative foundations, the historical relationship between the state and the ulama, the status of the “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,” and the political transformations associated with Vision 2030. The study argues that religious legitimacy in contemporary Saudi Arabia has not disappeared but has been reformulated in connection with modernization, national unity, and effective governance.
