This article examines the scientific and legal interpretation of the concepts of road traffic and road traffic safety through the method of comparative-legal analysis. The object of the research consists of the definitions proposed by scholars from Uzbekistan, the CIS countries, and foreign researchers. The definitions provided by national scholars tend to align with a socio-legal approach, whereas those of CIS scholars are closer to a mechanical-technical approach. Proceeding from the need to harmonize local and global approaches, the author proposes new definitions of road traffic and road traffic safety that reflect a comprehensive approach.
