This article analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations for developing students’ practical skills in specialized schools. The study substantiates the priority of the competency-based approach in the modern education system and considers the formation of students’ ability not only to acquire theoretical knowledge but also to apply it effectively in practical activities as an important pedagogical task. The paper highlights the integrated development of the technical, technological, creative, and reflective components of practical skills in visual arts education. In addition, the integration of digital technologies into the educational process is interpreted as a significant factor enriching the content of practical skills. The results of the study demonstrate that the systematic organization of practical activities in specialized educational institutions plays an important role in developing students’ creative thinking, aesthetic taste, and professional competencies.
