This article analyzes English as a lingua franca and its pragmatic features. Based on the World Englishes framework, it examines pragmatic interference arising in intercultural communication. The views of scholars such as B. Kachru, A. Pennycook, and J. House are discussed in relation to the development of learners’ pragmatic competence. The study also explores pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic interference and their impact on language learning, with relevant examples. The findings highlight the importance of pragmatic knowledge for effective communication.
