This article analyzes the current procedural and criminalistic aspects of investigating crimes in the field of ecology. It examines the current state of this category of crimes, their latent nature, the delayed manifestation of consequences, and the difficulties involved in establishing causation, collecting evidence, and evaluating proof. The study also addresses the role of expert examinations, the need for specialized investigators, the use of digital monitoring tools, and interagency cooperation. Based on foreign experience, the article develops scientifically grounded proposals and recommendations for improving the investigation of crimes in the field of ecology.
