The article examines potential web-quest technology for developing intercultural competence among students of non-philological specialties in the process of learning English. Special attention is given to the analysis of the author’s web quest “Culture Shock and Cross-Cultural Etiquette”, which illustrates the proverb “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” and is aimed at exploring the phenomenon of culture shock and the norms of intercultural interaction. The results of a pedagogical experiment are presented, confirming the effectiveness of web-quest technology in developing students’ analytical, communicative, and intercultural skills.
