This article examines the role of intercultural competence development in foreign language learning. The author refers to literature to examine the results of other scientists' work in the field of intercultural communication and competence in teaching foreign languages. The author also evaluates the problems of intercultural dialogue and emphasizes the importance of developing intercultural competence in teaching a foreign language to minimize culture shock when communicating with another culture.
