The article attempts to identify at the lexical and semantic level the peculiarities of the functioning of orientalisms in modern Russian. The differentiation of the functional-semantic and pragmatic status of orientalisms is proposed and 21 thematic groups of orientalisms are described using the examples of Russian-language media in Uzbekistan.
