This article analyzes the legal nature, role, and significance of time limits for filing applications to administrative courts within the administrative justice system. Time limits for applying to administrative courts are considered an important procedural mechanism for ensuring the principles of legal certainty, stability, and justice. The article examines the essence of this institution based on national legislation, judicial practice, and international experience. Particular attention is given to determining the starting point of the time limit for filing a claim, the conditions for its restoration, and certain practical problems related to the interpretation of the concept of “valid reasons”. As a result of the research, scientific conclusions and proposals aimed at improving legislation, ensuring legal certainty, and establishing a uniform judicial approach to the application of procedural time limits in administrative proceedings are put forward.
