The article focuses on improving mechanisms for preparing future biology teachers for professional activity based on an innovative approach in the context of the modernization of higher pedagogical education. The purpose of the study is to provide a scientific justification and experimental verification of the effectiveness of innovative mechanisms in professional teacher training. The methodological framework of the research is based on competency-based, system-activity, and innovative approaches; both theoretical and empirical research methods were employed, including a pedagogical experiment. During the study, digital educational technologies, project-based and research-oriented learning methods, and the modeling of professional pedagogical situations were implemented. The results demonstrated an increase in the level of professional readiness of future biology teachers, the development of subject-specific, methodological, and digital competencies, as well as enhanced motivation for professional activity. The study concludes that the application of an innovative approach is advisable for improving the quality of teacher training.
