The article frames religious extremism as the most resilient form of ideologically driven violence, embedded at the nexus of theological distortions, socio-cultural stressors, and political dynamics. It shows how digital ecosystems accelerate radicalization by building echo chambers and recruitment pipelines targeting youth and labor migrants. A comparative lens on Central Asia identifies shared drivers—identity crises, inequality, weak institutions—and country-specific patterns shaped by conflict legacies, degrees of secular governance, and transnational linkages. Universal features—militarism, anti-systemic posture, ideological exclusivism, intolerance, and networked mobilization—are mapped alongside the specificity of religious radicalism as a quasi-political ideology that sacralizes violence. The paper advances a forward-looking toolkit: coupling law-enforcement with education, media literacy, religious dialogue, and targeted social programs; strengthening inter-agency coordination, cross-border information sharing, and legal harmonization. Preventive action in online spaces and community-based resilience are highlighted as pivotal to dampen the transnational momentum of extremism over the coming years.
