Annotatsiya

The article examines contemporary extremist ideology as a hybrid, trans-national and highly adaptive phenomenon rooted in global instability, waning institutional legitimacy and pervasive digitalization. Tracing its trajectory from 18th-century revolutionary uprisings to today’s decentralized online networks, the author demonstrates how radical ideas have migrated from the margins to the mainstream. A five-part ideological framework is proposed: (1) a catastrophic value core, (2) a personified enemy, (3) a sacralized transformative goal, (4) mobilizing rhetoric, and (5) binary “us-versus-them” cognition. Digital platforms are shown to amplify recruitment, accelerate radicalization and enable leaderless resistance structures. The study calls for an interdisciplinary analytical lens and multilayered counter-extremism policies that blend legal regulation, education and international coordination.
