The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the essence of scientific research methodology, its historical roots, and its role in legal research practice. It emphasizes that the success of scientific research directly depends on its methodological foundation, and that the choice of method is not merely a "technical" step, but an approach that reveals the core of the research problem. The author highlights the interrelationship between scientific methods and research types, synthesizing perspectives from theoretical sources such as Kothari, Creswell, and Dawson, as well as national scholars (Rustambaev, Asilova, Radjabov, Shayakubov). The text illustrates with examples the advantages and limitations of induction, deduction, hypothesis formulation, empirical and theoretical methods, mixed approaches, surveys, observation, experimentation, and comparative and historical methods. Special methods for legal research - including historical-legal, comparative-legal, legal-sociological, statistical, modeling, forecasting, cybernetics, and legal psychology - are specifically classified, and their roles in normative-legal analysis, judicial practice, and lawmaking are outlined. The author asserts that the main methodological requirement is not simply listing methods, but answering the question "Why this particular method?," segmenting data (statistical grouping), and ensuring reliability and reproducibility.
