Annotatsiya

This article analyzes the legal and ethical foundations of the informed consent principle in medical practice, its historical development, and the challenges of its modern application. Informed consent is viewed as a fundamental principle ensuring patient autonomy and bodily integrity. This principle is enshrined in international documents, including the Oviedo Convention and UNESCO Declaration. In practice, however, issues such as the complexity of documents, the process becoming a mere formality, and low patient health literacy persist. Consequently, new approaches like shared decision-making, simplified documentation, and electronic technologies are being implemented. The article also examines existing norms in Uzbekistan's legislation and offers recommendations for improvement.
