This article examines the history and characteristics of the Indo-Pakistani conflict. The author draws attention to one of the most complex disputes in South Asia - the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. India and Pakistan share a common colonial past and civilizational differences, which form the basis for the emergence of an irreconcilable conflict between them. The article analyzes the origins and causes of the three Indo-Pakistani wars and attempts to evaluate the actions of the countries' governments in the context of escalating tensions on the Indian subcontinent.
