This article provides information about the emergence and development of printing in Turkestan. It discusses the objectives of Russian colonizers in establishing printing houses, and highlights the cooperation between Jadid enlighteners and Tatar progressives in laying the foundation for national printing and press. New information regarding the origins of printing in the region has been introduced into scientific discourse.
